ISO-BLOCO One - Filling the gap

Joints up to 42 mm in prefabricated concrete, brick work,
curtain walling and cladding panels can be effectively
sealed using the new high performance ISO-BLOCO
range of pre-compressed 600 PUR impregnated
foam tapes from leading supplier ISO-Chemie.

ISO-Chemie’s multi-purpose foam tapes have been specified to
provide a high performance seal for Internorm Edition windows
installed at a new build site in Burry Port, South Wales.

ISO-BLOCO One was used to seal the uneven gap that was
created between the window frames and the exterior cobble
stoned walls of the self-build property. In some places, the gap
was as narrow as 3 mm while in other parts as wide as 24 mm,
so a flexible, self-expanding foam tape solution was required to
prevent moisture ingress and provide a long lasting, cost
effective all weather seal.

The installation work was undertaken by Kenilworth-based JLH Bros,
window and door installers specialising in the passive house market.

The company uses the tape among other ISO-Chemie products to
achieve a high quality finish for the leading Austrian products that
JLH Bros install, including Gaulhofer / Internorm.

Paul Proctor, JLH’s managing director, said: “Because ISO-BLOCO
One expands to fills voids it was the best available option for this
project and has provided a highly effective solution with the minimum
of hassle and effort.”

Up to 70 % cost savings can be achieved using the ISO-BLOCO One
foam tape because it enables installers to seal windows from inside
the building, avoiding the need to use time consuming and costly
external access systems like scaffolding and ladders.

Hiring access systems, with the associated health and
safety issues, can add significantly to the overall
cost of a new build or renovation project, so
additional savings can also be made using
ISO-BLOCO One.

Moreover, because the foam sealant can
be used in the wet and rain the installation
of windows can be undertaken regardless
of external weather conditions, avoiding
time consuming and costly delays.

ISO-Chemie estimates that this can lead to potential savings of hundreds
of pounds per day.
